Permeation capacity measurements derived from AC complex impedance spectra

Much of the focus of research on electrical property measurements of concretes (or more commonly, cement pastes) has involved the development and inter- pretation of AC complex impedance spectroscopy (`ASIC’) procedures. These developments were summarized by Christensen et al.58 Such methods provide much more sophisticated assessments of electrical conductivity for cement pastes, and shed light on various related factors such as dielectric behavior and properties linked to ion diffusivities. Recent treatments of the subject and its relationship to pore parameters in concrete have been provided by McCarter et al.60 and by Beaudoin and Marchand.61
